Sports Injury - Shoulder Patient

Growing up, Tyler has been active in sports from pretty much day one, having played baseball, cbasketball, football and tennis to go along with other outdoor hobbies such as fishing. Last summer while throwing the football around with me in the backyard, I noticed that I heard a noise coming from Tyler’s shoulder each time he threw the ball. We started talking more and decided it was time to get him looked at before the upcoming sports season. Rather than going to other orthopedic doctors in the area, Tyler’s Mother and I decided to take him straight to Dr. Foad based on his reputation in the community and feedback we’d received from family members with experience with him. This turned out to be the best choice we could possibly have made.

The one thing that struck me immediately upon meeting Dr. Foad is how he takes his time to getto know the patient as well as the family. In my experience, most  doctors are in a hurry to get you in and get you out so they can move on to the next patient. That is certainly not the case with Dr. Foad. The extra time spent helps instill a sense of trust.

After his clinical examination and subsequent imaging, it was determined that Tyler had a SLAP tear that needed to be repaired. Dr. Foad took the time to discuss Tyler’s priorities for the upcoming year to create a timeline of care that would have him ready to go for the spring tennis season. While it was hard for him to miss a full season of basketball, we were confident in Dr. Foad’s assessment of the scope of the injury and the time needed to recover. Following surgery, Dr. Foad set Tyler up to work with Brad Harper for his physical therapy. I can tell you that you’d be hard pressed to find a better tandem to work through a recovery. Brad is the most kind and knowledgeable physical therapist I’ve ever been around. One meeting with him and I knew Tyler was in great hands.

Right on schedule, Tyler was able to start the tennis season this spring and is enjoying a great season thanks to the work of Dr. Foad and Brad Harper. To everyone on Dr. Foad’s team, from the nurses to reception team, THANK YOU!
